A poignant clip pulled at heartstrings across social media: what looked like a hungry calf approaching an advertisement of a cow printed on the back of a lorry and trying to suckle from the picture as if it were its mother. Many shared it as a real, heartbreaking moment, some placing it in India. Here are the posts that carried it, and our check of whether the footage is genuine.

Photo posts drawing on the same scenes also spread widely in Sri Lanka and abroad in several languages, as shown below.

Fact-Check
If the video were genuine, it stood a fair chance of being reported by some credible source. To check, we ran the video’s frames through reverse image search. That led us to a Facebook page called “Realish AI,” which had published this very video and stated in the post itself that it was created using AI.

That page is dedicated to producing and publishing AI-generated content. Many more videos of this kind can be found on its Facebook and Instagram accounts. The source post is here.

Unnatural Elements Visible in the Video

Below the “VIJAYA DAIRY” logo in the clip, the text reads “Wiewing Dairy,” a telltale glitch common in generative-AI text. The calf’s movement and leg motions, as it stands with its front feet against the vehicle, look distinctly unnatural, and the letters and numbers on the number plate stay blurred and shift shape inconsistently. Checking the plate shown in the video, Kerala’s motor-vehicle registration records show the number (KL 39 K 704) actually belongs to a Tata Nano, and no such incident has been reported anywhere in Kerala. “VIJAYA DAIRY” is also not based in Kerala; it is a brand operating out of India’s Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Our Fact Crescendo Kerala team’s fact-check on this is here.
AI-Content Detection Confirms It Was Machine-Generated

Conclusion
The video shared as real footage of a calf seeking milk from a cow’s photograph on a parked dairy lorry is AI-generated and does not depict a real event. It was traced to the “Realish AI” Facebook page, which openly labels its output as AI-made, and it carries clear signs of fabrication: the garbled text, unnatural calf movement, a shifting number plate whose number belongs to a Tata Nano in Kerala, and a dairy brand that does not operate there. AI-content detection tools confirmed the footage was machine-generated.
