No Mainstream Media Reports:

A thorough review of mainstream media sources revealed no credible reports supporting the claim that Deshabandu Thennakoon has fled Sri Lanka. Typically, a high-profile event such as the  IGP fleeing the country would be covered by major news outlets, but no such reports have been found.

Official Statement from the Minister of Public Security:

Minister of Public Security Tiran Alles has  refuted the rumors, stating that the claims are entirely false. He confirmed to us that Deshabandu Thennakoon is currently in Sri Lanka and mentioned that he personally met with him as recently as yesterday evening.

Police Media Spokesman’s Statement:

We also reached out to the police media spokesperson, Nihal Thalduwa, who confirmed that Deshabandu Thennakoon is still in Sri Lanka. He emphasized that the rumors circulating on social media are baseless and that Thennakoon has not fled the country.
