A stomach-churning video has been racing across Sri Lankan feeds: a pet python inside a Vietnamese home, a small girl playing on its coils, and then a still image suggesting the snake had swallowed her whole. Alarmed viewers asked us to verify it. Here are the posts that carried the claim.
Social Media Posts
The roughly 55-second video, described as an incident in Vietnam, is made up of a “Part 1” clip and a “Part 2” photo. In Part 1, a small girl walks and plays on top of a large python moving from one room of a house to another. Part 2 is a photo that appears to show the python having swallowed the girl.
Fact-Check
Had a pet python actually swallowed a small girl at home, in Vietnam or anywhere else, mainstream, and other foreign media would surely have reported so sensitive a story. Our checks found no foreign outlet reporting any such tragedy, in Vietnam or elsewhere.
The Video Belongs to a Creator in Indonesia and the Girl Is Unharmed
A reverse-image search confirmed that the “Part 1” clip, shared as showing the python swallowing the girl, was first published on 22 August 2026.
Further checks showed that the original creator of the clip, in which the girl plays on the python’s body, was not a Vietnamese content creator but Abdul Azis Albar, a creator based in Java, in western Indonesia.
His social-media pages carry a large number of videos featuring this same python and a second python in various scenes.
Albar’s Facebook page also carries many videos of the very girl said to have been swallowed, including clips of her sitting on a python’s back and appearing with two pythons, posted over the past several days, with another video posted as recently as today (21 September).
Photos of the girl with the python inside the home can also be seen on Albar’s Facebook page.
It is therefore clear that the claim of the python swallowing the girl has no basis.
Meanwhile, Indonesian media confirmed that the girl is unharmed and still plays with the same python. Other foreign outlets have likewise reported the social-media claim as false, as seen here.
The “Swallowing” Photo Is a Digitally Edited Image
Although the photo said it was to show the girl swallowed by the python lines up with a few seconds of the original video, the python’s abdomen is not visible in that part of the original footage.
When we checked whether the photo had been created or edited using artificial intelligence, it showed signs of a SynthID AI-generation watermark.

Conclusion
There is no truth to the video claiming that a pet python inside a Vietnamese home swallowed a small girl. The original owner of the footage lives in Indonesia, not Vietnam, and the girl said to have been swallowed remains unharmed to this day.
The circulating video was first posted on 22 August 2026, and Abdul Azis Albar has continued posting videos and photos of the girl playing with the python up to today (21 September). The “swallowing” photo is a digitally edited frame taken from the original video.
